Protect the Next Generation

Work with the federal government and other provinces to reform fiscal federalism, protecting Alberta from unfair federal policies and limiting the flow of wealth leaving the province so that Alberta can support a responsible energy industry transition. Honour the constitutional division of powers and shift to greater provincial vs. federal taxation powers.
Ensure fiscal policies do not burden the next generation, including limitations on public sector spending, including benchmarking against national averages
Use high royalty revenues to repay debt and invest in the Heritage Trust Fund for longer term infrastructure and diversification initiatives that will ensure future prosperity
Pursue prudent environmental policies to protect against environmental debt (abandoned wells, oil sands tailings ponds)

Quality of Life

Protect and enhance quality of life as the goal of both social and economic policy
Commit to human rights protection including respect for, and full inclusion of, minorities
Limit personal freedom where needed to protect public safety, individuals, or the broader public good
Reform health care including private sector involvement where appropriate, shift to a customer first/quality focus
Protect public education, invest in secondary education (focus on teaching)
Enhance law enforcement and social funding to ensure cities are liveable and people can achieve their potential
Invest in parks, arts, culture and sport

Add value to resources
Encourage diversification
Ensure GHG leadership but do not threaten competitiveness, put GHG compliance costs into emissions reduction technology and infrastructure
Ensure competitive tax policy
Measure and report quality of life attributes to retain young people and attract talent (housing costs, education levels, health indicators, employment, arts and culture, recreation, parks and green areas)

Indigenous Relationships

Pressure federal government to honour all obligations, and fund indigenous programs in the cities
Honour consultation and encourage funding to indigenous communities with transparency for all parties (matching tax credits for transparent investments from individuals and corporations)
